Time began with the birth of Light. Light is fundamental to everything, and is central to my work. I use metal as my primary material because of its ability to reflect light. Reflectivity for me embodies the perpetual cycle of conflict and resolution that energizes all things. Reflectivity is also a metaphor for communication. Just as people project impressions of themselves on others that are subtly distorted on each rebound, light reflecting on the surface of metal imparts to the world images I have inscribed on them, refracting them ad infinitum. By scratching images onto metal, I am inscribing our lives and our era onto light.

Die Zeit beginnt mit der Geburt des Lichtes. Licht ist grundlegend für alles und steht im Mittelpunkt meiner Arbeit. Ich benutze Metall als mein bevorzugtes Material aufgrund seiner Fähigkeit Licht zu reflektieren. Reflexion verkörpert für mich den ewigen Kreislauf des Konflikts und der Auflösung, welches alle Dinge mit Energie anreichert. Reflexionsvermögen ist auch eine Metapher für die Kommunikation. Genauso wie Menschen Eindrücke von sich an andere weiter geben, die sich bei jeder Reaktion auf subtile Weise verzerren, vermittelt das Reflektieren des Lichtes auf Metall die Welt-Bilder, die ich darauf graviere und die sich bis ins Unendliche brechen. Durch das Ritzen von Bildern auf Metall, schreibe ich unser Leben und unsere heutige Zeit ins Licht.
